From THE Golden Age of piano manufacturing here is a art case Chickering Grand Piano made in 1926, 5'4" all excellent condition original parts. Original Ivory keys. Has rare, beautiful, hand painted, Japanese Pastoral scenes. This style of painting is called "Japaning" and started to appear in Boston USA in the early 1700's. Japaning is something artists would do to different kinds of furniture. Boston became the center in the USA of 'Japaning" and Chickering Pianos had their piano factory in Boston. This is the first and only piano we have seen like this. We have two artists restoring the art work and it's looking stunning. Like a museum piece. A collectors item. a "work of art". Chickering and Sons was the first actual piano factory in America, established in Boston in 1823 by Jonas Chickering with partner James Stewart. Chickering were known for producing award-winning instruments of superb quality and design. Known as one of the great innovators in the piano industry. Chickerings were still being made into the 1980'. This one served primarily as a furniture piece and has very little playing time logged on it. Soundboard, bridges, hammers and action parts all excellent condition. Our technicians just regulated the action and voiced the hammers so it look and plays great. Worldwide Shipping. Warranty.
